During my time as HP Alliance PM, two new OEM agreements were signed, with two additional new agreements in process. Recommendations

“I had the opportunity to get to know and interact with Scott Jones while he worked at both Altiris and Symantec. As a reporter covering the virtualization market, I found Scott to be one of the leading visionaries and evangelists in the application virtualization space, and I was fortunate to have him as an industry source for information. His passion for the Altiris SVS product and for the virtualization technology in general came through every time he spoke. There aren’t many people in this industry that can claim to have their finger on the pulse of the market and the technology – Scott is one such person. And his gift at communication and working with people is a major bonus. He can keep the conversation simple or go down deep into the technology depending on his audience. Scott Jones is truly one of the great pioneers and key players of application virtualization. And any company would be lucky to have him as a member of their corporate team.”
— David Marshall , Writer InfoWorld Virtualization Report

“Scott was that rare individual who understood that sometimes things happened that were beyond anyone’s control and he would roll with it. He made handling his travel as easy as possible by making his request well in advance, being flexible and open to ideas and suggestions in order to maximize the company’s return on his travel budget. He was always a pleasure to work with. When you consider that he applied that same approach to all of his work, he planned ahead, he was flexible, he understood that there weren’t unlimited resources and he got the big picture, that’s what made Scott such a valuable person to the organization and is the basis for my recommendation.”
— John Millsaps, Altiris onsite agent, Altiris/Christopherson Travel, worked with Scott at Altiris, Inc.

“Scott and I collaborated on many consulting gigs and large projects during his time at Novell: Scott in the field and I as his technical support contact on the Consulting Resolution Team. Scott quickly proved a very capable Consultant. But he stood out as a leader due to his unsurpassed knowledge, his valuable contributions to best-practice documentation and his whole-hearted commitment to the products/solutions he implemented. This noticeable commitment and his non-wavering professionalism secured him a position in Product Management where he continued to champion the firewall/proxy/security products & solutions he owned. Scott was an asset to Novell every day he was with us. I would welcome an opportunity to work with him again.”
— Jim Short, Senior Technical Support Engineer & Security Response Team Lead, Novell Inc., worked with Scott at Novell, Inc.

“I had the pleasure of working with Scott at both Altiris, Inc. and Symantec Corporation. I can attest both to Scott’s tremendous passion for the technical aspects of his work, particularly in the area of software virtualization, as well as his thorough grounding in business and legal considerations, which is a rarity amongst engineers. In addition to being strongly self-motivated, and possessing an ‘out-of the-box’ intellect, Scott is a consummate team player and unfailingly proactive in raising legal concerns – his intuitive grasp of legal matters was unprecedented in my experience with non-lawyers, and his integrity ranks among the highest of any profession that I have worked with in my career. Any organization seeking to employ a brilliant, original mind with a well-rounded grasp of technical, legal and business matters would be extremely well-served with Scott as an employee.”
— Hilory Wallk, Senior Corporate Counsel, Symantec Corporation, worked with Scott at Symantec

— Till von Ruexleben, Vice President, Endpoint Management, Field System Engineers, Symantec, managed Scott indirectly at Symantec

“Scott is a well seasoned technology professional with a wide background in product and technical product management. In my direct experience with Scott he has worked independently to bring leading edge products to market, as well as with larger PM teams on established product lines, in each instance providing dramatic strategic benefit and direction. Scott is able to work in both the tactical execution and the big picture planning role. In the OEM relationship with AppStream and Altiris Scott was my direct interface into the Altiris organization. Through this relationship the SVS Professional product line was able to compete head-to-head with major ISVs and establish Altiris and Symantec as strategic vendors in the emerging endpoint virtualization space, with Citrix, Microsoft and VMWare. In our post-acquisition work at Symantec, Scott lead the effort for the first commercial launch of application virtualization by a major PC vendor, as HP launched a safer-browsing initiative with Firefox wrapped in SVS. To date, this is the only such commercial project of it’s type. I strongly recommend Scott as an industry expert in traditional ESD, virtualization, and emerging alternative computing practices.”

He was tireless in promoting and evangelizing his product. He was responsible for cultivating relationships with partners that complimented his product.
